1880’s The Hot springs are “discovered” by Robert Bagby.

 

1913 – Philip Putz builds the Bagby Guard Station, the headquarters of the Oregon Forest

 

1975 – New Forest Service cabin built

 

1979 – Original Bathhouse burns

 

1981 – Friends of Bagby (FOB) formally organize

 

1982 – FOB get a special use permit from the Forest Service

 

1983 – Construction begins with the upper tub

 

1986 – Construction ends with the private deck

 

1987 – FOB becomes the operator of Bagby under MOU and gives bathhouses to the FS.

 

1999 – Historic Cabin is placed on National Register

 

1999 –  Upper Deck is rebuilt by FOB

 

2000 – Friends of Bagby begin to have organizational troubles due to a new administration that elected itself and had a hidden agenda, not in the best interest of Bagby.

 

2000/2001 – Members that do not agree with the administration of FOB and their hidden agenda are suspended or expelled

 

2001 – New FOB administration is elected

 

2001 – Forest Service & FOB replace roof on Historic Cabin.

 

2002 – The Forest Service cancels its contracts with FOB when  the new administration wants to continue to run Bagby as it has for 20 years.

 

2003 – The Forest Service operates Bagby on its own and over half the active members leave Friends of Bagby.
